As always, EVERYONE is welcome to attend our weekly Fernley Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors" Networking Breakfast meetings...…even if you are not yet a member.

This weeks speaker is:

Nicole Taylor

Work Based Education Coordinator

Lyon County School District

Nicole spent the majority of her career in various retail roles within Fortune 100 companies. These roles included Management, Human Resources, Risk Management and Shrink and Safety Compliance. In 2018 Nicole's husband was deployed with the US Navy making it difficult to juggle child care and a career in retail; so Nicole made the decision to take her love of volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and use it to pivot into a career in education. In the fall of 2020 Nicole's husband was transferred to Naval Air Station Fallon and their family moved to Fernley. Nicole started working for Lyon County School District as the Work Based Learning Coordinator in August of 2021.

Work-based learning is an educational strategy that offers students the opportunity to connect classroom learning to authentic business/industry experiences. Work-based learning in Nevada is described as a continuum of experiences that help prepare students for postsecondary education and careers. The goal of work-based learning is to assist students to be college and career ready through authentic connections to business and industry in a field related to the student’s career interest.

Nicole would like to speak on the various types of Work Based Learning, how Work Based Learning can benefit students and Business Leaders, examples of support that is available to both students and industry partners, and finally some of the successes the district has seen over the last 6 months.

There will be Fernley Ambassadors to personally greet you at the front doors of The Golf Club at Fernley and guide you through the check-in process. The check-in table will feature 4 Fernley Ambassadors to assist you with the check-in process, including 50/50 raffle tickets, Bragging Bucks, etc.

Non-Chamber members are welcome to attend and learn about the many benefits available to you, your business or your organization as a Fernley Chamber of Commerce member.

If your are a business owner/operator, we strongly encourage you to bring a Door Prize for our raffle ticket giveaways at the end of the meeting. It will allow you and your business to maximize your exposure at the event.
